The Detroit Achievement Academy (DAA) is a free public charter school that is committed to an Expeditionary Learning approach, with a focus on developing and nurturing the whole child. They currently teach students in kindergarten, first, and second grade. Each year the school plans to add a new grade level to its curriculum.
The Austin team learned of the DAA through a personal connection to the school. Dean Austin’s family has devoted time and resources while volunteering at the school. At Austin, we believe that when we serve our local community, we make Michigan better. We are dedicated to supporting the city of Detroit – and will continue to give our time, energy, and resources to support those in need. Since this cause is near and dear to us – we need your help.
The DAA can no longer fit in their current space and plans to purchase a building of their very own.Their new ‘forever home’ is within their grasp – but they need our support to get there.
As a charter school in operation for less than three years, the DAA does not qualify to borrow from banks in Michigan. In order to move into the new building this summer, they need to raise $150,000 by February 15th.
Through the support of the Austin family, Austin Benefits Group will match every donation dollar for dollar up to $25,000!
“We are so grateful to Austin Benefits Group and the Austin family for their incredibly generous matching pledge! We are making great progress towards reaching our goal. Purchasing our very own school will allow for continued growth and the expansion of educational services to the children of Detroit. We appreciate your support!” said founder Kyle Smitley.
We are asking for your support in helping the DAA reach their goal! And if we can’t convince you, maybe the kids will:
