This app is perfect if you’re too busy to hit the gym, despise group fitness classes, or can’t bare to venture outside in the Fall and Winter months. Here at AFG, it’s busy season, and we make it a point to keep health and fitness at the forefront (especially when the staff brings in all that leftover Halloween candy!) Sworkit, our Fitness App of the Week, is aiming to give on-the-go fitness a fun new spin.

Sworkit is a randomized circuit-training app that allows people to choose what they want to work out and for how long. For example, you may select yoga and set the time for 30 minutes. Each individual exercise lasts for 30 seconds and is accompanied by an in-app illustration. If the option is totally foreign to you, there is an option to pause and watch a short demonstration. If you want to know what’s coming ahead of time, there’s an online exercise library with descriptions of each move.

According to reviews, the randomization of each exercise keeps the workout interesting, but it also made certain aspect of the workout frustrating, because the clock starts ticking even if you’re not ready for it.

If you’re not into the idea of having to watch your SmartPhone for the next exercise move, you can spend the measly $0.99 on Sworkit Pro, which has an audible announcement of each exercise and allows you to track weekly and monthly goals. You can also choose how many seconds occur between each exercise, a luxury not found in the free version, and much needed if you’re working out in a small space!
