Did you know that the typical gym is loaded with germs that can cause illness, cold, flu, and skin infections? As you stay committed to your New Year’s resolution to hit the gym a little more– practice these tips to help you stay healthy!germs01

  • Always wash or sanitize your hands before and after your workout. Wash your hands for at least 60 seconds or make sure your gel sanitizer has at least 60% alcohol in it to get the job done.
  • Use a paper towel to turn off the faucet and open the bathroom door after washing your hands.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow.
  • Wipe down your gym equipment thoroughly with disinfectant before and after use. Most gyms provide these.
  • Wipe down exercise mats before and after use.
  • Wear flip flops in the pool area and showers.
  • Shower and change your clothes once you get home from the gym.
  • Wipe down the outside and inside of your gym bag with a disinfectant wipe.
  • Wipe down your cell phone or iPod with a disinfectant wipe.
