Compliance Update: IRS Sets 2019 Limits for Group Plans, HDHPs, and HSAs

The IRS has set new 2019 limits for group plans and HDHP/HSA plans. Below is an overview of the adjusted limits for 2019 for self-only and family coverage.

2019 Maximum out-of-pocket limit for group plans:

  • $7,900 for self-only coverage ($7,350 in 2018)
  • $15,800 for family coverage ($14,700 in 2018)

2019 Minimum Deductibles for High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs):

  • Self-only coverage: $1,350
  • Family coverage: $2,700

2019 Out-of-pocket maximum for High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs):

  • Self-only coverage: $6,750 ($6,650 in 2018)
  • Family coverage: $13,500 ($13,300 in 2018)

2019 HSA Contribution Limits:

  • Self-only coverage: $3,500 ($3,450 in 2018)
  • Family coverage: $7,000 ($6,900 in 2018)
  • The annual “catch-up” contribution amount for individuals age 55 and older will remain $1,000.
