Healthy Recipe: Italian Turkey Burgers–YUM!

Ever since we began our health and wellness journey here at AFG, we like to try healthy recipes and share them with each other. One of my personal favorites, Italian Turkey Burgers, comes from Jamie Eason. Here’s a tip though: Pair this with a light side, like a salad, because they definitely fill you up!

Italian Turkey Burgers:

  • Fat: 1 g
  • Carbs: 3.5 g
  • Protein: 27.6 g

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages of ground extra lean turkey breast
  • 4 medium zucchini, grate
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Set broiler on high, arranging rack so that burgers will be about 2 inches from the heat.
  2. In a large bowl combine grated zucchini, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, pepper and then turkey.
  3. Mix well and scoop out 4-5 oz. portions. Mixture will be very moist. Use non-stick spray on the foil-lined baking sheet or grill.
  4. Place burgers in oven for 7 minutes. Carefully flip each burger and broil for another 7 minutes. The George Foreman Grill will cook much faster–so watch it!

These are great as meatballs too! Try with spaghetti squash for a low carb meal.
