Obama admin re-brands exchanges

The Obama administration is re-branding exchanges to be called insurance “marketplaces” in each state.

The administration feels that marketplace is a more descriptive name for the function of what was formerly referred to as an exchange. Exchanges are designed to function as one-stop marketplaces for people who do not receive health coverage through an employer. Customers will be able to buy and compare plans online, usually with help from a federal subsidy.

Some states may create their own name for the exchange marketplaces, such as Massachusetts “Connector” and “Cover California.”

Do you think Michigan will name the marketplace something different? If so, what do you think it will be called?
