Last week, AFG traveled to Western Michigan for the Michigan Medical Group Management Association (MMGMA) Fall 2011 Conference. After an easy two and a half hour drive, we found ourselves in the midst of a bustling Grand Rapids enjoying ArtPrize—an open art competition featuring 1,582 pieces of art displayed at 164 venues across the city. In correlation with ArtPrize, the theme for the conference was “The Art of Practice Management-Reaching for the Prize.” Exhibitors were encouraged to incorporate the theme into booth displays, and we did not approach the challenge half-heartedly. The AFG booth featured a beautiful array of fall-themed pieces like dark brown wicker pumpkins, hand — crafted fall leaves, and a more modern interpretation of the rough landscape that is Fall in Michigan. Amongst the art you could find the most delectable cookies, made for us by Cookies By Design and featuring our Austin Financial Group logo. It goes without saying that the cookies were very popular with attendees and exhibitors alike!
The conference kicked off Wednesday night with a networking reception, where we met several other vendors that work with practice groups and provide various services, like ATMP Solutions-a company out of Belleville, Michigan that works with clients to ensure they meet HIPAA standards and are implementing effective management practices. Thursday was the first full day of the conference in which attendees and vendors enjoyed an early breakfast followed by a day of educational breakout sessions and time to visit with exhibitors. In a closing ceremony Friday afternoon, we announced the winner of the Kindle 3 prize, a representative from Rehabilitation Medicine Associates in Grand Rapids. Congratulations again to Linda Daneman!
