The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released updated model HIPAA Privacy Notices to reflect new protections for patient records related to substance use disorder treatment, known as Part 2 records. Health plans that receive or maintain these records must update their Privacy Notices to explain how Part 2 information is used, shared, and protected.
