The Supreme Court has announced its decision on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. In a 5-4 ruling, the Court upholds that the individual mandate requiring people to have health insurance—is valid as a tax, even though it is impermissible under the Constitution’s commerce clause. In regards to Medicaid, the Court also ruled that the federal government cannot withhold Medicaid funds if states do not follow PPACA expansion guidelines.
