Blue Care Network is continuing to negotiate with Beaumont Health System after the hospital provided notice that it may leave BCN on January 12, 2012 if an agreement is not reached.
BCN is working towards a solution in the event that BCN and Beaumont fail to reach an agreement. If Beaumont leaves the network, BCN will offer groups a special open enrollment period in which members who want to keep a Beaumont Health System option can “stay blue” by moving from BCN HMO to BCBSM PPO.
A special two-week open enrollment period for BCN groups can be arranged under the following circumstances:
- If a group has BCN and BCBSM options, BCN members may move to the employer’s BCBSM plan (applicable premiums apply).
- For groups with only BCN coverage, a quote for a BCBSM segment will be provided. BCN members will have the option to move to the group’s new BCBSM plan (applicable premiums apply).
In both cases, retro movement will not be allowed and the special enrollment periods will be set with individual groups on a case-by-case basis.
We previously sent you an AFG alert and general FAQ on the situation. Further details are expected from BCN after Thanksgiving.
Please contact your dedicated AFG Account Manager with questions or concerns.
