Running: v:To move swiftly on foot so that both feet leave the ground during each stride; To move without hindrance or restraint (From Merriam Webster Dictionary)

RunKeeper, an app available on Apple, Android and Windows 7 operating systems, utilizes GPS to track your route on a map. In addition, it monitors and records activity such as distance, time, pace, speed, and calories-burned.

RunKeeper will track other types of activity like biking, cross-country skiing, swimming, and even the elliptical at the gym!

Your data is uploaded and stored to the RunKeeper website so you have a full exercise history each time you use RunKeeper. It has recently been integrated with Facebook and Twitter, in case you like sharing your accomplishments with others.

One of the coolest features of this app are the coaching programs. You can program each run and set goals for your activity and then let RunKeeper help you reach them! The app will remind you how far above or below you are from your target. For example, let’s say you want to monitor your speed. You can set up intervals by time or distance and RunKeeper reminders will tell you when to run and when to take a break to recover.

Try it out and tell us what you think!
